The time has come to get your hands dirty in the Combine Street Community Garden… Coffs Regional Community Gardens will hold two workshops on one day!

All you need to do is choose which workshop you’d like to attend and contact us to register.  Both workshops are free, you just need to be a member of the Coffs Regional Community Gardens association (see details below) to participate.

Workshop 1: Bricklaying workshop to build our beautiful mandala garden and the first Community Garden plots

Ashley Stokes, an experienced local brickie will guide us through the finer points of brick-laying in a 2.5 hour practical hands-on workshop. You will gain all the skills you need to help build our first garden beds, including the mandala at the heart of our Community Garden. Maybe even the inspiration to create some garden beds at home! Some tools will be available but bring what you have from home as well. Bricks donated by the Coffs Harbour City Council.

Workshop 2: Bush regeneration along the waterway that runs through our site

Help rehabilitate our waterway with selected plants native to our very own North Coast Region, including many from Coffs Harbour itself. This ”riparian zone”, including bush tucker plants for us and food for local birds, will improve the health of our soil and water as well as creating sanctuary for visiting birdlife. Bring gloves and garden spades and don’t forget sun protection.

Date:      Saturday 10th September 2011.

Time:     9.30 am to 12 noon (but we will work into the afternoon if you feel motivated)

Place:     Coffs Community Garden site, Combine Street Reserve, Coffs Harbour.

Bring:     Garden tools, bricklaying tools (if you have them), hats, closed shoes, sun protection and a bottle of water. Also, membership fee if you haven’t already joined ($15 individual, $25 family, concession available).

Places are limited so book early by sending us a message on our contact us page.

See you there.
